The Afghanistan all-rounder, Azmatullah Omarzai, smashed his maiden century in the shortest format off just 46 balls when they were struggling at 5/4 in the fourth over of the first innings, during the second T20I of the three-match series against Zimbabwe, which took place at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Zimbabwe’s captain, Sikandar Raza, won the toss and had no hesitation in bowling first on the surface, keeping in mind the chase in comparatively easy conditions. And his decision seemed to be proven right when the hosts lost four wickets in 3.2 overs.

Omarzai’s first big shot of the evening came through a six against Masuku as he whipped the over into the stands over the deep mid-wicket region. And that was just the beginning of an aggressive knock to come. The right-handed batter continued to slog the spinners and the pacers around the park.

Omarzai notched up his fifty in the 15th ball of the innings with a boundary, which was slapped hard in the gap to sweeper cover. That was followed by his five successive sixes as the boundary on the penultimate delivery of the 17th over completed his 46-ball century.
The Punjab Kings (PBKS) star ended up with 116 runs off just 50 balls at a strike rate of 232, thanks to his five boundaries and 12 sixes, as none of the Zimbabwe bowlers had any idea of where to bowl at the special player.
How Afghanistan dominated Zimbabwe in the 2nd T20I after an early struggle
Afghanistan was reduced to 5/4 in the fourth over of the innings before losing their fifth wicket on 38 in 8.1 overs. But they got stability with the 142-run stand off just 59 balls for the sixth wicket between Omarzai and Ijaz Ahmadzai, who nailed 52 runs off 27 balls as the home side ended up with 221/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
The three top-order batters of Zimbabwe got their respective starts but failed to capitalize on those beginnings and were restricted to 88/5 in 11 overs. Their captain looked frustrated with the fall of each wicket in the middle.
