Huge trouble for Blessing Muzarabani as Zimbabwe star faces massive penalty in PSL 2026
The Zimbabwe fast bowler, Blessing Muzarabani, has faced a massive trouble as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) puts a huge penalty on him for leaving PSL 2026 for IPL 2026.

At the eleventh hour, the Zimbabwe fast bowler, Blessing Muzarabani, pulled out of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026, where he was about to be part of the Islamabad United. He made his trip to India after securing the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 deal with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as an injury replacement.
Muzarabani came into the side after Kolkata was instructed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India in December last year to release the Bangladesh left-arm pacer, Mustafizur Rahman, after he was bought at the 2026 auction for INR 9.20 crore. The Asia Pacer has since been signed by the Lahore Qalandars in the PSL, which begins from March 26, two days before IPL.
Blessing Muzarabani handed 2-year ban from PSL 2026
The PCB has put a statement on Blessing Muzarabani’s stance in the PSL as they look forward to the player’s commitment to high professionalism and agreements with the tournament. They handed a two-year ban to the Zimbabwe veteran, which begins from this season.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has today reaffirmed its commitment to the highest standards of professional conduct and the sanctity of contractual agreements within the Pakistan Super League (PSL).” PCB expressed in a statement.
“Following a thorough disciplinary review, the PCB has announced that Zimbabwean cricketer Blessing Muzarabani is declared ineligible to participate in the next two (2) editions of the HBL PSL, effective immediately. This decision stems from a fundamental failure to honor agreed-upon commitments, an action that undermines the professional framework of the league.” The board addressed.
That means that the lanky fast bowler won’t be part of the auction or the PSL in 2027 and 2028. It’s the same situation with Corbin Bosch, who changed his plan at the last moment and came to feature for the Mumbai Indians.

“The PCB maintains that professional cricket operates on the bedrock of trust and the certainty of agreements. In this instance, despite a clear offer and an unequivocal acceptance of essential terms, the player chose to disregard these obligations in favor of a conflicting arrangement.” The board noted.
KKR struggle in IPL 2026 amidst Muzarabani’s success
The 29-year-old, who has picked up overall 159 wickets in 135 innings of the shortest format at an economy rate of 7.40 for a strike rate of 18.3 with a couple of four-wicket hauls, has bagged four wickets in two matches of the IPL 2026 at an economy rate of 10.71.
Kolkata Knight Riders, meanwhile, has struggled with its performance in the IPL 2026 as they stay at the bottom of the points table, having not won a single game in four encounters, including the one washed out result against the Punjab Kings at the Eden Gardens.
They are scheduled to face the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 14 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
