India captain Surya Kumar Yadav won the toss and decided to bat first. The track of the Sheikh Zayed Stadium was looking batting-friendly during the toss, so Yadav decided to bat first. A good batting performance also was expected from Gill, who was in good touch in the recent past.

When the match started, Oman looked desperate to show their true potential. The early departure of Gill was the sign of their discrepancy. Shah launched an absolute jaffa to dismiss the opener.
