India men's cricket team hit by jersey sizing issue ahead of Asian Games 2026 Nagoya departure

The Indian men’s cricket team members are waiting for their right-sized kits ahead of their departure for the upcoming Asian Games 2026 at the eleventh hour. Reports have claimed that there have been many issues regarding the players' jerseys between the BCCI and the Indian Olympic Association’s kit supplier JSW Inspire.

The Shreyas Iyer-led side is scheduled to leave India from the national capital on September 20 as the Indian players will take on their standard kit for their one-off T20I clash against Japan on September 20 before the official Asian Games for the event begins on September 28.

Regarding the delays faced by the Indian athletes in getting their accommodation in Nagoya, the board has decided to make their own arrangements for the tournament. There were also concerns around the cricketing facilities, including the field of play.

“There was a sizing issue in the cricketers' kits; the majority of them have been rectified. There are a few left, and they will be delivered to the team shortly. With players needing two different jerseys there (one for bilateral and another for Asian Games), this can happen.” The report has expressed.

“The women's team accommodation was never an issue. The rooms provided by the organisers for the men's team did not even have space to keep the kit bags. There are not many big hotels there, but the BCCI has managed to make its own arrangement shortly before their departure to Japan.” It addressed.  

The Indian women’s team has been staying in the hotel, as confirmed by the IOA. There is no dedicated Games Village around, with the organisers housing athletes.

The Asian Games will feature 18 teams across the men’s and women’s events at the Korogi Athletic Park in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. The ten teams will compete in the men’s event, which runs from September 24 to October 03.

India’s first game will be on September 28 in the second quarter-final. In Iyer’s leadership, they will have the premier pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, along with Tilak Varma as the vice-captain. Vipraj Nigam also replaced Varun Chakravarthy, who got injured during the T20I series against Afghanistan.
