As per early reports, Jasprit Bumrah could be kept out of India’s last group-stage game in the Asia Cup 2025 against Oman. The management of the Indian team is likely to be pragmatic and rest their best fast bowler, with a place secured in the Super Four. Bumrah has done his job in trying to keep the economy down, but wicket-taking has been on the modest side so far.

The right-arm pacer has blown hot and cold in the tournament, maintaining an impressive economy rate of 6.71 but collecting only three wickets in two matches. Considering his history of injuries, the management is inclined to give him a break before the Super Four stage. The India vs Oman match is scheduled for Friday, September 19.

According to PTI, Bumrah might be the only possible change in India’s playing XI. If Bumrah is rested, India will pick either Arshdeep Singh or Harshit Rana. Arshdeep has an excellent T20I record, swings the new ball well, and is a skilled death bowler, which may give him the advantage, although Harshit is also in contention due to his ability to take breakthroughs. India’s probable XI for the match could include Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav (C), Sanju Samson (WK), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Shivam Dube, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakravarthy, and Kuldeep Yadav.

Quick Struggles to Make Match-Winning Impact

Although Bumrah has maintained control with the ball, his wicket column suggests he hasn’t fully delivered his best in the Asia Cup so far. Against the UAE, he returned figures of 1 for 19 in three overs, while in the high-voltage clash against Pakistan, he picked up 2 for 28 but was taken for a couple of big sixes by Sahibzada Farhan.

These statistics clearly show that Bumrah has been economical without really having the impact of a match-winning bowler. As the knockout stage approaches, the Indian camp will be looking forward to the star pacer delivering his best when it matters most.
