India's full schedule for the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2027 is revealed. Know every match, date and venue, find out who India face first in South Africa and see how the team begins preparation with the West Indies series

The ICC, minutes before the announcement of the schedule for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2027 in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, revealed the groups for the event, where India were placed in the Group A along with their arch-rivals Pakistan, the defending champions Australia, along with Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, and the Qualifier A. 

India will begin their WC campaign against Australia just like the previous occasion when they face the same opponents at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, where the blue brigade gained a victory in the chase.

India's World Cup 2027 Schedule: Every Match, Date and Venue

 In the ODI WC 2027, India’s opening clash will be against the Pat Cummins-led side at the Newlands in Cape Town before they turn their focus to the second fixture, which is the biggest of the event, against the arch-rivals- Pakistan at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.

India’s third game will be against Afghanistan in Tshwane before they face the Qualifier A in Bloemfontein. Their last game of the stage will be against the co-hosts Zimbabwe at the newly built stadium- Victoria Falls.

Before the game between India and Australia, Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek will stage the Super Series, a three-team preliminary round which will decide which side makes it to the 12-team main event.

South Africa, meanwhile, will begin their campaign against New Zealand on October 09 at the Newlands while their clash against the Harry Brook-led England side will on October 16 in Gqeberha.

India begin ODI WC 2027 preparation with West Indies series

The blue brigade has already started their preparation for the ODI WC through the ongoing three-match series against West Indies, where they have taken an unassailable lead of 2-0 after the first couple of games. In the second clash at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, they completed a record chase of 406 runs.

India will travel to New Zealand for another ODI series before facing Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe towards the end of 2026 and start of 2027, respectively. There are plans of them playing a six-match ODI series in South Africa before the World Cup.

In the previous edition of the 50-over WC in South Africa, India finished as the runners-up under Sourav Ganguly where they lost the final against Australia.
