IPL 2025: How much pay cut will Mitchell Starc face for pulling out mid-way? Explained

Mitchell Starc couldn't refuse the call from his motherland for a highly anticipated match against South Africa to defend their World Test Championship (WTC) title. He left the Delhi Capitals (DC) and IPL 2025 midway to prepare himself for the WTC final at Lord's from June 11.

Capitals secured the service of the Aussie pacer for a whopping 11.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Inclusion of a bowler like Starc was definitely a plus point for the Axar Patel-led side. Though Starc's performance with the DC was not constant. With a bit expensive economy rate, the experienced Australian pacer claimed 14 wickets in 11 games, including a five-wicket spell. Delhi Capitals, currently at the 5th spot of the points table, will be trying their best to win all of their remaining matches.

With Starc in the squad, DC could have an extra edge over the opponents. But without the service of the world-class seamer, Patel and Co. need to find a new formula to pave the path to the playoffs.

How much money Starc have to sacrifice?

As Strac pulled himself out from the tournament midway, according to IPL rules, he will have to suffer a hefty financial loss. According to a report published on cricket.com.au, the 36-year-old will have to let go of one-third of his IPL 2025 salary in case DC manages to make it to the final round.

The Delhi-based franchise bought Starc for a total of INR 11.75 crore; from that, if we calculate the one-third part mentioned above, then it will be INR 3.92 crore, the sum Starc may have to sacrifice from his paycheck.
