IPL 2025 : Rajasthan Royals vs Chennai Super Kings Match Highlights

It was a game full of excitement at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on March 30, 2025, where the Rajasthan Royals (RR) managed to win their initial match of the IPL 2025 season by only 6 runs against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Rajasthan Royals Innings: RR made a tough score of 182/9 on the board by batting first. The key role in the innings was played by Nitish Rana, who hit a marvellous 81 runs off only 36 balls, i.e., very fast and effective batting, the like of which the CSK bowlers had no answer for.

Chennai Super Kings Innings: The reply from CSK was not at all what they expected. Hasaranga caused the major disruption for RR by getting 4/35. Although a very good attempt was made by Ruturaj Gaikwad, as he scored 63 runs off 44 balls, CSK were short at 176/6.

Key Moments:

• CSK were chasing with 17 runs needed from the final three balls. Jamie Overton utilised a strong shot, a six, he managed off Sandeep Sharma, but the rest was not enough, resulting in a win for RR of four runs.
• An interesting highlight came from CSK pacer Khaleel Ahmed, who, with a visibly charged-up reaction, bid farewell to RR opener Yashasvi Jaiswal after dismissing him in the first over, setting the game up as a fierce one.

• Riyan Parag: "It was a crucial win for us. Nitish Rana played a fantastic innings, and our bowlers, especially Hasaranga, delivered under pressure. We backed our plans, and they paid off."
• Wanindu Hasaranga : "I love to watch Telugu, Malayalam and Tamil movies. I got that celebration from the Pushpa film".
• Nitish Rana (Player of the Match): "I was just trying to ultiise the new ball. The powerplay was important as the older ball turns and stops. I wanted to play the field, rather than the wicket or the bowler. Whenever fine leg or third-man was up, I just had to use the bowlers pace."
• Ruturaj Gaikwad (CSK Captain): "Nitish batted brilliantly, and we weren’t proactive enough in adjusting our field placements. We should have made him play more in front of the wicket instead of allowing him to score behind square. Additionally, we conceded 8-10 runs due to misfields, which cost us. We are working on improving these aspects. A target of 180 was definitely achievable."
