The 'Green dot ball' campaign of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 has planted over six lakh saplings across different states of India.

Whenever a batter plays a dot ball in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, the commentators talk about the ‘green dot ball’ campaign, where every single dot delivery plants 500 saplings across the country, and so far in this season, the initiative has planted over six lakh saplings.

The talking point of the tournament has been around the flurry of boundaries and over boundaries, but this dot ball campaign has played a significant role in turning India green.
What is the ‘Green dot ball’ campaign & who is behind it?
The ‘green dot ball’ campaign is a sustainability initiative by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Tata Group for the IPL and the Women’s Premier League (WPL). For every dot delivery (a ball with no runs being scored), 500 tree saplings are planted. And the total number has crossed 6 lakh trees.
