IPL 2026, Match 22 - CSK vs KKR: Toss Update and Playing XI

MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk, Chennai) is hosting the 22nd match of the IPL 2026, as the Chennai Super Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders (CSK vs KKR) match has been scheduled for Tuesday night (April 14). The venue is hosting its third game of the season, while both teams are playing their fifth match of the tournament. 

The five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings have two points after four matches, as they lost their first three games badly before claiming a solid win in their last battle. CSK lost their first three matches of the season against Rajasthan Royals (by 8 wickets), Punjab Kings (by 5 wickets), and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (by 43 runs). However, in their last game, CSK beat Delhi Capitals by 23 runs. 

On the other hand, the three-time IPL winners Kolkata Knight Riders are yet to win a match, as they have only one point after four games. While their home game against Punjab Kings had no result after rain interruption early in the first innings, KKR lost against Mumbai Indians (by 6 wickets), SunRisers Hyderabad (by 65 runs), and Lucknow Super Giants (by 3 wickets), where the LSG match went to the last ball battle.

IPL 2026, Match 22 - CSK vs KKR: Toss Update

Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and chose to field first. In the meantime, Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad also confirmed that he would choose to bowl first if he won the toss.
