The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 began on March 28 and is set to continue till May 31, as the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the final of the competition. The two-month-long cricketing event sees ten sides fighting for the trophy.  

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is the defending champion after winning the 2025 season of the competition and looks strong and balanced to earn two successive trophies.

#1 Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (Rajasthan Royals)- (776)

Hardly anyone believed that a 15-year-old would find himself among the top five run-getters of the Indian Premier League (IPL), amidst the number of notable and classical batters of India and overseas. But Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has impressed everyone with his brutal hitting and great maturity at such a young age.      

The Bihar-born has smashed 776 runs in 16 innings at an average of 48.50 and a blistering strike rate of 237.30 thanks to five half-centuries and one century at the best score of 103 runs. He has drilled 63 boundaries and 72 sixes in this process.

#4 Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans)- (732)

Gill has never been away from the top five run-getters of the IPL in the last few editions. Along with shouldering the responsibility of the Gujarat Titans, he has been tremendous in the opening position. It’s an important season for him after being away from T20I cricket.

The India ODI captain has smashed 732 runs in 16 innings at an average of 45.75 and a strike rate of 163.02, thanks to six half-centuries and one century at the best score of 104 runs. He has been fantastic for the franchise at the opening spot. 

#3 Sai Sudharsan (Gujarat Titans)- (722)

Sai Sudharsan has been superb and consistent throughout the IPL 2026. Along with Shubman Gill, he has done a really good job in holding one end and putting big scores on the board.

The southpaw has nailed 722 runs in 17 innings at an average of 45.20 and a strike rate of of around 160, thanks to eight half-centuries and one century, which came against RCB at the best score of 100. 

#4 Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Bengaluru)- (675)

Over the years, Virat Kohli has been fantastic for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) with his consistent performance with the bat. His hardwork finally paid off during the last two seasons as they won the tropy for two two successive editions of the competition. 

Kohli finished the IPL 2026 season with 675 runs in 16 innings at an average of more than 56 and a blistering strike rate of 165.84, thanks to five half-centuries and one century at the best score of unbeaten 105 runs against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Raipur. 

#5 Heinrich Klaasen (Sunrisers Hyderabad)- (624) 

It’s quite phenomenal that Heinrich Klaasen is holding the same beast form in this IPL 2026 despite being away from the T20I cricket due to his international retirement. He struggled to get his timing right at the start of the tournament, but regained the momentum beautifully towards the end.
