When the rain eased off nearly 40-45 minutes before the cut-off time for a five-over-a-side contest in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the Eden Gardens between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Punjab Kings (PBKS), the home side found themselves under immense pressure.

But the intensity of the rain and the shortage of time to prepare the ground fit for the game to restart went in favor of the Ajinkya Rahane-led side, who finished the game with one point and finally opened their account after starting the campaign with two successive defeats.

Shreyas Iyer’s sister trolls KKR after washout contest vs PBKS

Shreyas Iyer’s sister, meanwhile, has cheekily roasted the Knight Riders after rain played spoilsport, washing out the game. One could understand the feelings of the visitors, who had the hosts 25/2 in 3.4 overs, having sent back two overseas batters- Finn Allen and Cameron Green.

After the result, PBKS captain’s sister, Shrestha, posted a clip on Instagram. In that video, she joked in Punjabi, saying, ‘Saade Punjabiyan da dil vadda hunda hai, lo de ditta ek point,’ which suggests that Punjab had kindly given away a point after the washout fixture.

Watch the video here:

“Our chemistry blossomed right from Delhi Capitals days. And he’s someone who gives all the sort of liberty and freedom to youngsters in the team. And the inspiration that he is himself, he has played brilliant cricket over the years. And we’ve looked upon him as one of the best cricketers in the world.” Shreyas admitted his relationship with the head coach, Ricky Ponting, for the franchise.

KKR made worst start in IPL 2026 game against PBKS

Kolkata, surprisingly, decided to bat first after winning the toss despite the surface being under the covers for a long time, offering swing and seam movement. On the other hand, they were without their two experienced spinner, Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine, in the playing eleven.

Punjab went with the same side, as the right-arm pacer of the Australian side, Xavier Bartlett, found the outside edges of both Green and Allen, who pushed at the out-swinging deliveries into the hands of the wicket-keeper.
