Sunrisers Hyderabad chased down a daunting target to defeat Mumbai Indians by 6 wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in IPL 2026. Chasing 244, SRH got a perfect start from Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. Head scored 76 off 30 balls, and both added 129 runs in just 52 balls. They controlled the game during the powerplay and kept pressure on MI from the beginning.

Mumbai attempted a comeback through AM Ghazanfar, who took two wickets in two balls, and Abhisheck was soon dismissed by Hardik Pandya. But Heinrich Klaasen kept his composure and played a clever innings, managing 50 not out. He was supported by Salil Arora, who smashed 30* off just 10 balls. SRH finished the chase with 8 balls left.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians scored 243/5 in 20 overs. Ryan Rickelton played a brilliant innings of 123* off 55 balls, hitting 10 fours and 8 sixes. He and Will Jacks (46) added 93 runs for the first wicket. Hardik Pandya and Naman Dhir also scored some runs. Despite the big total, MI could not stop SRH, who completed one of the best chases of the season.

MI vs SRH: Who said what after the match

Hardik Pandya (Mumbai Indians Captain):

"I don't think dew played much of a role. Just that they played some good shots. We bowled some bad balls. They got off to a flier. We didn't pull it back. It was not enough. I enjoyed. I had fun on the ground. 244, I will back my bowlers to defend it. But it wasn't our day. I enjoyed bowling well, barring those last three balls. (On the dropped catches) It's been that kind of a season. If you get a couple of chances, you have to grab those. Or else, you will pay the price for it. But it's fine. All the boys have tried hard. I think this season, we don't have much options. I don't want to put my bowlers under the bus. As an overall unit, we haven't been able to do what Mumbai Indians stand for. We have passionate owners. We have passionate support staff. Hopefully, we will figure out something. I think we haven't given them much opportunity to back us. They have been fantastic. They have been loyal. It hurts a bit when they come out and chant the opposition's players names. But we need to entertain more to get back the love."

Pat Cummins (Sunrisers Hyderabad Captain):
"Always tough to start with. Knowing our batting lineup and a very good pitch. Definitely thought it was chaseable. When the pitch is good and the way they play different shots. I'm glad I'm not bowling at them. Super impressive. Salil hasn't really got much of a chance this season. Really impressed in the pre-season. They've all just got that fearless attitude so credit to the coaching staff as well for instilling that in these young guys. I don't think they realize how good they are. Of course. You got to be realistic. It's different to what it was 5 years ago. 200 used to be kind of tough going to chase. Now 12 an over you can chase this as a batting unit so just got to reset your expectations as a bowling group. Yeah, I've got a lot. I said last game, it's these high scoring games, there's not a lot in it for the bowlers. But you do feel like, even at the end there if you nail one. A really good yorker, it can still be the difference in the match. Really good bowlers, Eshan in our team. He's a big reason why we've been winning these games. He's got the Purple cap as well. You can still have a huge impact."

Heinrich Klaasen (Player of the Match):
"Well, there was a big gap in cow corner and you had to take a big risk early on. The wicket was good. They have got a quality bowling line-up and the asking rate was around 10 to 12s. You have to take your chances and see if you can make light work out of the situation. Yeah, my left shoulder has given me some trouble since last year so I am not that strong over cow corner. Our throwdown bowlers have been feeding me some balls which I am hitting over extra cover. I am hitting them nicely at the moment. (On days like this, does he find himself as invincible?) No, not at all. I try to be humble. Tomorrow is a new day. I am going home. Hopefully, the baby is not screaming. It's nice to contribute for the team. It's a great win for us and hopefully, we can do it back home as well. It's always fun. Sitting in the dug-out and we can feel what they are doing in the middle. Like I said before, if they are going at a rate of 15-16 per over, then our life becomes a lot easier. When I got in, I think we needed something under 10 runs per over, chasing 240. So, that's an incredible job from them (Head and Abhishek). (Did he have any conversation with Arora?) Well, I did. It was 12 off 6 or something like that at one stage and I told him to not worry. He asked me, 'Can I hit the winning shot?' and I said yes, just hit it. He just finished the game. It's incredible to see him do that on the big stage but we see it everyday at training. He is an incredible talent. Hopefully, he can have a bright future."
