Mitchell Owen’s All-Round Brilliance Powers Washington to Last-Over Win

In Match 13 of MLC 2025, Washington Freedom won a thrilling win over Texas Super Kings at Grand Prairie Stadium. After choosing to bowl first, Washington chased down a big target with just two balls left, winning by 7 wickets.

Texas Super Kings batted first and scored a strong total 220/6. Captain Faf du Plessis was in top form, smashing 69 runs off just 31 balls. He got support from Marcus Stoinis scored 32 runs and Milind Kumar 31 runs in 18 balls, who helped build a big total.


But Washington kept things in check, thanks to Mitchell Owen, who bowled well and took 3 wickets for 33 runs. Glenn Maxwell chipped in with 2 wickets, and Rachin Ravindra also got one.

Washington came out swinging in the chase.
Mitchell Owen was the hero again, this time with the bat. He scored a match-winning 89 from 52 balls, staying calm under pressure. Andries Gous gave great support, hitting a classy 80 off 45 balls to set up the win. Glenn Maxwell finished things off with a quick-fire 20 as Washington reached 223/3 in 19.4 overs, sealing the game in style. For Texas, Adam Milne tried hard with 3 wickets for 42 runs, but the other bowlers couldn’t stop the flow of runs.
