Is Reece Topley out of World Cup? Find out.
With a suspected broken finger injury, Reece Topley is unlikely for the remainder of World Cup 2023.

England might miss their leading wicket-taker Reece Topley for the remainder of the World Cup 2023. He is suspected to be suffering from a broken finger. However, the Indian coach already confirmed that Jofra Archer would not be considered as a replacement.
What happened to Reece Topley?
Reece Topley once again starred in England’s match against South Africa after claiming 3 wickets conceding 88 runs in 8.5 overs. However, he left the field after trying to stop a drive back down the ground from Rassie van der Dussen. During the second half, he could not return to bat and England eventually were beaten by a massive 229-run margin to South Africa.
While speaking of Topley’s injury, England coach Mott told, “I thought Reece Topley going back out to bowl with a broken finger showed great spirit.” He added, “We’re still waiting on that, but it’s very much looking like it’s a crack. Certainly that’s the early diagnosis, but we’ll find out properly with X-rays.”
Will Archer replace Topley?
He also said, “It’s highly likely there’s a fracture there, which would make it difficult for him to keep playing.” However, an official confirmation is yet to come. Mott meanwhile made it clear that Jofra Archer would not be a replacement in case Topley is unable to play the rest of the World Cup 2023. “Jof is actually not going to be considered for selection,” Mott confirmed. “He’s come out, he’s reported to the medical staff, but he’s not going to be able to play a part in the end of this campaign.”
Reece Topley is currently the leading wicket-keeper for England in the ongoing World Cup with 8 wickets from three games. He took 4 wickets in England’s solitary win over Bangladesh in the campaign. No wonder, if he fails to play the remainder of the tournament that would be a blow for the defending champions who are already in the ninth place on the Points Table.
