Two days after winning the Gold Medal in the Asian Games 2026 by beating Pakistan in the final, the Indian T20I side locked horns with the West Indies for the opening T20I of the five-match series at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, where Ishan Kishan’s superb reverse-cup catch goes viral.
India’s captain, Shreyas Iyer, won the toss and had no hesitation in bowling first, keeping in mind the dew later in the second innings, which makes it incredibly hard for the bowlers to grip the ball. However, the batting first sides have a statistical advantage at this venue.

It was the first delivery of the 15th over of the innings when Kuldeep Yadav bowled a harmless shortish delivery which turned in slowly as the batter, Matthew Forde, went for the pull shot towards the deep mid. He didn’t get the power, and the ball travelled to Kishan’s left.

Kishan covered the ground very quickly, and despite appearing to lose it in the lights, he recovered remarkably well to complete the catch. He got both hands low to his left while skidding and simply put them out in hope of the ball sticking. It did into his left hand as he looked in disbelief at what he had pulled off.
