WATCH: Jason Holder smashes three consecutive sixes against Washington Freedom in MLC 2025

Three from three, a hat trick of 6s by LA Knight Riders (LAKR) skipper Jason Holder in game 8 of the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC 2025) against Washington Freedom (WF). The result of the match was enough for LAKR's ignominious exit from the tournament. The only glimmer of hope for them was Holder's three sixes in a row.

Three from three, a hat trick of 6s by LA Knight Riders (LAKR) skipper Jason Holder in game 8 of the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC 2025) against Washington Freedom (WAS). The result of the match was enough for LAKR's ignominious exit from the tournament. The only glimmer of hope for them was Holder's three sixes in a row.

Knight Riders was three down when it had only 10 runs on the scoreboard. The openers and the number 3 batter of the lineup went back to the hut without scoring any runs. Batting first, Washington got 208. LAKR had no option but to play strokes from the beginning to rotate strike to reduce the asking run rate. In that process, Knight batters failed miserably. Alex Hales, Sunil Narine, and Unmukt Chand all threw their wickets for ducks.

When Jason Holder came into the yard to bat, the required run rate was touching the ceiling. After playing a few balls to understand the wicket, Knight Riders skipper chose to take the aerial route against the WAS spinner Yasir Mohammad. The 22-year-old spinner was the most expensive bowler for Washington just after bowling one over. After conceding three 6s, Yasir leaked 20 runs in an over, and he did not return to bowl another over.

Glimpse of a prime Jason Holder

Holder launched the first six of his innings on the third delivery of the 10th over. He was then with only 3 runs after facing 6. Yasir, on the third delivery of the over, released the ball for a slightly shorter one, on the stumps, and "definitely not a wicket-taking delivery," according to the commentator on air. Holder did not hesitate to swing the bat for a maximum over the long-on region. In the next delivery, the young spinner went for on the stumps, on the good length, and the result was the same: another six. The third six was probably the easiest for the Caribbean all-rounder to hit. A wide, full-length ball hit the deck only to go into the stand.

Despite 3 sixes in a row, Holder couldn't sustain his momentum and lost his wicket for an individual 23 off 16. He was the last hope for LAKR.
