The result of the match was enough for LAKR's ignominious exit from the tournament. The only glimmer of hope for them was Holder's three sixes in a row.

Knight Riders was three down when it had only 10 runs on the scoreboard. The openers and the number 3 batter of the lineup went back to the hut without scoring any runs. Batting first, Washington got 208. LAKR had no option but to play strokes from the beginning to rotate strike to reduce the asking run rate. In that process, Knight batters failed miserably. Alex Hales, Sunil Narine, and Unmukt Chand all threw their wickets for ducks.

When Jason Holder came into the yard to bat, the required run rate was touching the ceiling.
