After a rough start in the powerplay by losing three wickets, West Indies made a strong comeback with powerful middle-order batting performances that set them to manage 190+ total in the first innings against England in the Group C fixture of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026

After England chose to field first, West Indies scored 196/6 in 20 overs at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. While both the Caribbean openers were dismissed in the first seven balls of the match, Shimron Hetmyer was dismissed for 23 runs in 12 balls (two fours and two sixes) just before the completion of the powerplay.

Sherfane Rutherford played heroic knock; Jason Holder slammed four sixes in cameo

Roston Chase was later dismissed for 34 runs off 29 balls (six fours), while Sherfane Rutherford played a great knock and set 50+ partnerships with Rovman Powell and Jason Holder. While Rutherford scored 76 not out off 42 balls with two fours and seven sixes, Holder slammed 33 off 17 balls with one four and four sixes. 

In the final over, Holder slammed one six on the second ball of the over, which went very far. You can see that smashing shot to the English pacer Jamie Overton.

Among the English bowlers, Jamie Overton (2/33) and Adil Rashid (2/16) took two wickets each.
