During the opening Test of the two-match series between Australia and Bangladesh at the Marra Cricket Ground in Darwin, the tourists showed incredible dominance. Under the scorching sun, Mitchell Starc and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were engaged in a heated moment as it went viral on social media platforms.

By the end of the second day’s play, the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side had taken a lead of 153 runs with four wickets in the bag, while they bundled out the home side for 198 runs in the first innings, thanks to the pace of Hasan Mahmud’s six-wicket haul.

Starc lost his cool when Mehidy Miraz tried to give a reason to the umpire after running on the pitch. The Bangladesh batter defended the delivery of the left-arm pacer on the off side and went for a quick single. As the pacer’s follow-through was around the same line, Mehidy changed his direction and ended up running on the centre of the surface.

The action didn’t satisfy the umpire, Kumar Dharmasena, who warned the batter. In his defence, Mehidy claimed that Starc had come in his pathway. This remark angered the left-arm pacer, who said, “It’s my follow-through, not yours. Get off the wicket.”

The umpires tried to cool them down as Mehidy ended the second day’s play with an unbeaten knock of 32 runs off 73 balls at a strike rate of 43.84, thanks to three boundaries.

Hasan Mahmud breathed fire with pace and control as he picked up six wickets for 55 runs off 17 overs at an economy rate of 3.20, while both Taskin Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain shared two wickets with the red-ball in hand.
