Under pressure of their nine-wicket defeat in the first Test of the series in Darwin, Australia’s veteran left-arm pacer, Mitchell Starc, blew away Bangladesh with a five-wicket haul in just 22 balls during the second Test at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay as the tourists were bundled out for just 64 runs in the first innings.

Bangladesh were incredible with the bat in the first innings of the previous encounter, posting a massive score of more than 400 runs, and they troubled the visiting side with two low scores in successive innings.

Starc rips through Bangladesh's top order, dismissing four batters inside four overs

Starc started the proceedings with the very first-ball wicket of Shadman Islam, whose thick outside edge landed into the hands of the gully fielder, while Tanzid Hasan Shakib, the centurion of the last clash, was dismissed for a second-ball duck when he tentatively poked at the half-volley and got an outside edge to the slip region.

On the very next delivery of the over, Starc trapped the Bangladesh captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, for a golden duck as the umpire raised his finger. It was followed by another wicket for the left-arm pacer, who dismissed Mominul Haque for 9 as the southpaw chased a wide half-volley.

The New South Wales pacer finally completed his five-wicket haul in 22 balls with the dismissal of Litton Das for a five-ball duck. He finished his spell with 6/12 in 10 overs.

Bangladesh reduced to 12-5 inside seven overs before being bowled out for a humiliating 64

Bangladesh failed to continue the same impressive performance with the bat from the last game. Three of their top four batters were dismissed on ducks, with two of them being on golden ducks. The highest individual score of the batting line-up was Shoriful Islam’s.

Apart from Starc’s 6/12, the home captain, Pat Cummins, finished with figures of 3/25 in 10 overs, while Josh Hazlewood ended up with 1/18 as the Asian side was bundled out for 64 runs.

Australia continued their poor form in the top order and were reduced to 41/3 with Shoriful Islam picking up two wickets in his very first over of the game. But Cameron Green and Steve Smith stabled them with a fine partnership of over 70 runs.

Brief Scores: Australia 145/5 (Cameron green 43*, Shoriful Islam 3/30) lead Bangladesh 64 (Shoriful Islam 14, Mitchell Starc 6/12) by 81 runs.

Fans in awe as Starc's spell goes viral, with many calling it one of the best of his career
