The premier pacer of world cricket, Jasprit Bumrah, walked into the middle on the third ball of the 41st over after the dismissal of Gurnoor Brar as the blue brigade found themselves in trouble at 210/8. But Bumrah turned up with his batting skills during the second ODI of the three-match series against England in Cardiff.

India were 178/3 in 31.3 overs before the wheels came off. They lost their next five wickets for just 42 runs on the board as their lower order couldn’t contribute as anticipated. They needed someone to play an aggressive knock.

Bumrah's blitz: Three fours and a six take him to 18 runs off Mahmood's over

After getting just a couple of runs off the first seven deliveries, Bumrah came hard against Saqib Mahmood. On the very first ball of the 43rd over, the right-handed batter whipped the full delivery with a strong bottom hand as the ball raced through the mid-wicket region for a boundary.

After the second ball, Bumrah clubbed the pacer for two successive boundaries. On the fourth ball, when the England pacer went for a back-of-a-length delivery, Bumrah dragged it through mid-wicket for his third boundary of the over.

The Gujarat batter finished the over with a six. It was a shot ball around the middle and leg side as Bumrah rocked back and nailed the pull over the deep square leg for a six to get 18 runs off that over.

India's middle-order woes: Hosts folded for 233 despite fifties from Kohli and Iyer

India were bundled out for 233 runs in 44 overs after being put into bat first, thanks to the twin half-centuries from Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer. The former smashed 65 runs with the help of eight boundaries off 66 balls, while Iyer dashed 66 runs in 71 balls, thanks to five fours and a couple of sixes.

Both Jofra Archer and Gus Atkinson picked up three wickets each in their spell, while Mahmood finished with 2/52 in his nine overs. India needed an early breakthrough in the defence, and they came up with two.
