Amidst the growing concerns of how Virat Kohli’s personal bodyguard misbehaved with the BCCI accredited media personnel ahead of the second ODI clash between England and India at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, the star batter was seen to be winning hearts in giving autographs to a young fan. 

Kohli returns to the ground after a long time, having played here during the 2014 series. The right-handed batter hasn’t played for a while, having missed the recent three-match ODI series at home against Afghanistan, due to the injury that he picked up during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 final.

The moment: Kohli stops mid-departure to sign autograph for star-struck young fan

A video has gone viral around the social media platforms where Kohli was seen to be giving an autograph to the young fans’ poster during the practice session before the second ODI between England and India in Cardiff.

The right-handed batter was about to leave the ground after completing the practice session. And that was when he stopped in his way and showed a warm gesture by giving the autograph to a young fan.

It made the day for the fan, whose joy had no bound. It again shows how much Kohli loves and adores his young fans, who always cheers for him in tough periods.

The ugly side: Kohli's personal bodyguard accused of misbehaving with accredited media

A major controversy, however, took place after a journalist alleged that Kohli’s personal bodyguard verbally abused and intimidated the reporter while he was standing inside the media zone with a valid card as he was capturing visuals of the team’s departure along with the other accredited members of the fans.

Kohli had already boarded the bus, as the bodyguard approached the reporter and repeatedly kept shouting. The latter informed the security that he has the accredited card from the BCCI.

The guard allegedly responded and continued to abuse him in the situation in the name of protecting the former Indian captain. It hasn’t been the first such case, as the same bodyguard misbehaved with the media personnel in the past.
