A video has gone viral on social media platforms, captivating cricket fans worldwide. It shows Sri Lankan all-rounder Chamindu Wickramasinghe, whose bowling action bears an astonishing resemblance to England star fast bowler Jofra Archer, and has gathered significant attention.
Archer has already gathered fame and attention around the world, playing in all three formats of the game, with his pace and accuracy making him a premier pacer not only in international cricket but also in franchise cricket around the globe.

As the Lankan Premier League (LPL) 2026 begins on July 17 at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo, Sri Lanka’s Chamindu Wickramasinghe’s bowling action, like Archer's, went viral. The buzz went high after his LPL team, Jaffna Kings, shared a training clip of him on Instagram.

The post provocatively asked the fans if the action reminded them of someone from the England side. The franchise’s team-mate, David Wiese, later fuelled the excitement and tagged Archer in a comment as he stated, ‘seen that action many times.’
“Best one I've seen,” came from the veteran fast bowler, as it turned Wickramasinghe into an overnight sensation and a trending topic among the fans of the game.

Wickramasinghe was born on September 06, 2002. The 23-year-old batting all-rounder is known as the left-handed batter and right-arm pacer who made his debut for the Sri Lanka side in 2024 during the ODI series against New Zealand in Kandy, with the last one coming against the same opposition in Auckland at the end of last year.
In the shortest format, the pacer debuted in 2024 against India in Pallekele, with the last one coming in Nelson against the Kiwis. In his first-class career, he has smashed 622 runs at 34.44 and has maintained a bowling average of 31.82 for his 22 wickets in domestic red-ball cricket.
If he does well in the LPL 2026, he could become a regular member of the Sri Lanka team in the upcoming future.
