Just after India’s six-wicket victory in the first ODI of the three-match series against England in the 262-run chase at Edgbaston in Birmingham, Virat Kohli showed a warm and classy gesture towards the ODI captain, Shubman Gill, as the video went viral on social media platforms. Both of them have shared a very close bond in recent times.
India, who went through a tough period in the last three weeks having lost the last two successive T20I series against Ireland and England by a margin of 2-0 and 4-0 under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, took the 0-1 lead in the three-match ODI series.

Kohli called Gill by gesturing Come ahead. But the Punjab-born was slow to start with as he picked up cramps during the batting and was forced to leave the field in between the chase.

The Harry Brook-led side won the toss and decided to bat first on a dry surface. Despite losing six wickets for 107 runs, they recovered well, thanks to the century-run partnership between Joe Root and Liam Dawson, both of whom celebrated their respective half-centuries.
The former remained unbeaten on 76 runs at run-a-ball with the help of six boundaries and one six, while Dawson clubbed 68 runs, shouldering on six boundaries and one six at a strike rate of nearly 82.

India had a complete cakewalk in the 262-run chase by six wickets with 28 balls to spare. Gill retired hurt on 80 runs, while Washington Sundar and Axar Patel notched up their unbeaten 102-run stand, having recorded their respective fifties with the bat.
