Watch: Virat Kohli's bodyguard accused of manhandling media before ENG vs IND 2nd ODI in Cardiff
A journalist has accused Virat Kohli's personal bodyguard of verbally abusing him despite valid media accreditation, ahead of the 2nd ODI in Cardiff — reigniting questions over BCCI's ban on personal security staff for centrally contracted players.

During the practice session ahead of the second ODI of the three-match series between England and India at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, a security personnel member crossed the line. It was Virat Kohli’s personal bodyguard, who misbehaved with a BCCI-accredited media personnel.
Security personnel being with the high-profile players are expected to protect the players and maintain order during public appearances. However, there is a fine line between giving security and interfering with a personal bodyguard on an overseas tour.
The moment: What allegedly happened outside the team bus in Cardiff
A major controversy erupted after the journalist alleged that Kohli’s personal bodyguard verbally abused and intimidated him despite the reporter standing inside the media zone with a valid card. He was capturing the visuals of the Indian team’s departure while standing along with other accredited members of the media and fans.

After Kohli had already boarded the bus, the bodyguard approached the journalist and repeatedly shouted. The latter informed the security personnel that he was an accredited member of the media and even had his official card with him.
This started to happen when MS Dhoni came to watch the third T20I of the series at Trent Bridge, and he was gathered by a massive crowd as he walked back to his car. The security guards have started to be more careful in their work. That shows that the security has been tense all series.

Kohli returned to action for the national side during the opening ODI of the three-match series against England as the game took place at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
