T20 World Cup 2026 captains’ day press conference

The 2026 season of the T20 World Cup 2026 is going to begin on February 07 with six teams being in action on the opening day. Pakistan will play the curtain raiser against the Netherlands at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo, starting at 11 in the morning. Four hours later, West Indies will lock horns with Scotland at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, the defending champions, the Indian cricket team, will begin their campaign against the United States of America (USA) on February 07 evening at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The captains’ meet ahead of the ICC event is scheduled to take place on February 05.

This will be the first time the event is held across two cities, in Mumbai and Colombo. The Mumbai leg will begin at 3 pm IST on February 05 and will feature the captains from defending champions India, Afghanistan, Canada, England, Italy, Namibia, Nepal, New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa, the USA, and the West Indies. The interactions will now be taking place at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai.

On the other hand, the Colombo event will take place at the Mercantile Cricket Association from 12 pm IST onwards. The eight participating captains will be divided into the two groups, addressing the media at 12 pm and 12:30 pm, respectively. It will be interesting to know the details of the preparations from their captains.

Pakistan, the 2009 champions of the event, Australia, co-hosts Sri Lanka, Ireland, the Netherlands, Oman, the UAE, and Zimbabwe will be part of the Colombo gathering. India’s leader, Suryakumar Yadav, will address the media between 3 and 3:30 pm IST at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai as his side heads into interaction post the 30-run win against the Proteas in the warm-up fixture.

The semifinals of the competition will take place on March 04 and 05. The second semifinal will take place at the Wankhede Stadium, while the first one will be either at Eden Gardens or the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, depending on Pakistan’s qualification. The final takes place on March 08 in either Colombo or the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, for the same reason.
