Abhishek Sharma was excellent with his batting performance in the Asia Cup 2025 for India at the opening position, as he was the leading run-getter of the event with 314 runs in seven innings at an average of nearly 45 and a strike rate of 200 with the help of 32 boundaries and 19 sixes. His contribution in some of the fixtures was incredible as he showed dominance with the willow. 

Due to his bright performance, Abhishek Sharma won the ‘Player of the Tournament’ award, which was a car worth INR 30 lakh. But surprisingly, he was required to gift INR 10 lakh for the gifted car. There is a reason. Gifts, in these cases, are not free. If the value of the gift is huge, then one will have to pay tax.

This rule comes under the 1961 Tax Pay Act. This tax applies if the gift hasn’t come from relatives. For the cricketers, the tax rate is in the slab of 30% while 4% tax slab comes for the health and education purposes, which means the overall tax rate goes up to 31.2% for the cricketers.

Abhishek got the gift of a Haval H9 car, which is worth INR 33 lakh 60 thousand rupees. Now, the tax is up to INR 10 lakh for the car. No matter who has gifted, the cricketer will have to make the individual payment for the gift.

If you want to bring the car back home, then you will have to pay he tax. Abhishek Sharma showed his dominance with the bat as he was fearless against the bowlers of the opposition and was in no doubt to take on them from the very first ball of the over.

Abhishek is expected to get a chance in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia down under. If he gets the chance, then he could be part of one of the ODIs as the Blue Brigade management starts their preparation for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2027.
