The batter changed his route while getting back to the crease after being sent back by the non-striker batter.

Kusal Mendis given out in controversial run-out during PSL 2026 final
It was the fifth delivery of the eighth over in the first innings. Nahid Rana’s hard length delivery came angling at Saim Ayub, who was cramped for the room. He tried to run it down to the third man region but only managed to get it off the inner half down the surface.
Watch the video here:
Ayub called his partner, Kusal Perera, for the quick single. The bowler ran towards the ball across the line on his follow-through, which slowed down the batter a little. The Sri Lankan batter had to change his direction. By the time he entered the crease, Michael Bracewell broke the stumps.
The replays confirmed that Mendis was an inch short of the crease. But he was not happy with the decision and complained that Rana might have obstructed the batter. The second replay displayed that the bowler moved across towards the ball, which slowed down the batter’s momentum.

However, the Bangladesh pacer didn’t have any chance to look at the batter, which was termed as unintentional. The big dive from the batter wasn’t enough, and the decision stayed. The Hyderabad captain, Marnus Labuschagne, wasn’t happy either and had a chat with the fourth umpire.
Hyderabad Kingsmen bundled out for 129 in PSL 2026 final
Only four batters of the side get their scores into double figures, out of which only Ayub crossed the 20-run mark and went on to smash 54 runs off 50 balls with the help of five boundaries and a couple of sixes at a strike rate of 108. That wasn’t enough as the new franchise got bundled out for 129 runs in 18 overs.
