"Masterclass"- CSK shares special comparison between MS Dhoni and Urvil Patel's wicket-keeping
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has shared a special comparison with images after Urvil Patel shared the wicket-keeping lessons he received from MS Dhoni during a clash of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 between Bengal and Gujarat.

Chennai Super Kings’ uncapped player, Urvil Patel, has shared a priceless picture where he revealed how he learnt wicket-keeping tips from ‘the best’ MS Dhoni during his tenure in the last season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The right-handed batter came as a replacement in the business end of the event and showed his aggression with the bat.
In the very first game of the event, Patel came at number four for the Super Kings and smashed 37 runs against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens. At the same ground, Urvil Patel played a sensational knock during the recent Ranji Trophy 2025-26 clash between Bengal and Gujarat.

After the game, Patel shared a pitch of his wicket-keeping skills and gave a caption of “didn’t learn from books, but learned from the legend himself- Thala @mahi7781” to which the Yellow Franchise shared the image and provided a new caption of “following the masterclass”.
Urvil Patel shares wicket-keeping lessons from MS Dhoni
The franchise put up a picture of Dhoni’s stumping where he dismissed a Bangladesh batter at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during the Men’s T20 World Cup 2016. The right-handed batter looked to use his feet and nail the big shot against the spinner, who kept it wide and on the leg side of the batter. It deceived him and found the batter out of the crease as Dhoni took the bails off to dismiss the batter. It was nearly the same situation for Urvil.
The Gujarat batter celebrated a fine knock of 109 runs in 124 balls at number three with the help of 16 boundaries. However, that wasn’t enough to save them from facing the defeat by 141 runs after getting bundled out for 185 runs as Mohammed Shami enjoyed a fine spell of 5/30 in the fourth innings.
Patel will aim to get retained by the Chennai Super Kings, who may also get a fine, uncapped, aggressive batter in their middle order for the upcoming 2026 season. They will need to name their retained and released players in the next few weeks.
