'Match is this Sunday...'- Supreme Court reacts to plea of suspending India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 clash
The Supreme Court has reacted to the plea on the suspension of the Men's T20 Asia Cup 2025 between India and Pakistan, which is scheduled to take place on September 14 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

A few days ago, a plea was raised on the suspension of the India vs Pakistan clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium during the Men’s Asia Cup 2025 on September 14, on the back of the recent situation between the two neighboring countries. A few months ago, the India Legends boycotted the game against the Green Brigade for the same reason.
A bench of Justices J K Maheshwari and Vijay Bishnoi heard the urgent listing by a layer and responded with the fact that the game would be on Sunday, and they should let it happen as scheduled. "What is the urgency? It's a match, let it be. The match (India vs Pakistan) is this Sunday. What can be done? The match should go on.”

India has already started the campaign on September 10 against the United Arab Emirates in Dubai, where they blew away their opponents with a superb all-round show with bat and ball. Kuldeep Yadav and Shivam Dube shared seven wickets to fold up the opposition for 57 runs in the first innings before the Blue Brigade completed the chase in 4.3 overs.
Supreme Court breaks silence on suspension of India vs Pakistan Men’s Asia Cup 2025
The petition was filed by four law students. One of them, Urvashi Jain, feels that a cricket match between India and Pakistan, just a couple of months after the Pahalgam terrorist attack and Operation Sindhoor, doesn’t sit well with the sentiment of the nation.
“Cricket between nations is meant to show harmony and friendship. But after the Phalagam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, when our people died and our soldiers risked everything, playing with Pakistan sent the opposite message that while our soldiers sacrificed their lives, we are celebrating sports with the same country sheltering terrorists.” The plea addressed.
“It can also hurt the sentiments of the families of the victims who lost their lives at the hands of the Pakistani terrorist. The dignity of the nation and security of citizens come before entertainment.” It added that India could again lock horns against this side on September 20 and potentially in the final, scheduled to be played on September 28.
