Match officials revealed for India vs Pakistan clash ahead of Asia Cup 2025

A significant development has revealed the match officials for the most-anticipated clash between India and Pakistan from the Asia Cup 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 14. The two heavyweights, who met each other at the same ground during the Champions Trophy 2025, will get locked in a battle for the very first time after the conflicts.

The reports of The Times of India have revealed that Sri Lanka’s Ruchira Palliyaguruge and Bangladesh’s Masudur Rahman will be the two official ground umpires for the encounter. Further, Ahmed Pakteen will be the TV umpire, who will be joined by Izatullah Safi as the fourth umpire for the clash.

Zimbabwe’s Andy Pycroft, the veteran in this position, will be officiating as the match referee for the India-Pakistan clash. This will be the second game for both sides in the competition, as the Blue Brigade will start their campaign on September 10 against the United Arab Emirates, while the Salman Ali Agha-led side, fresh from the Tri-series 2025 victory, will take on Oman on September 12.

Masudur Rahman and Ruchira Palliyaguruge to officiate as umpires for India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 clash

Ruchira is a veteran on-field umpire who officiated the games during the 2019 ODI World Cup in England and the 2022 Women’s T20 World Cup. The 57-year-old, who hails from Sri Lanka, featured in over 160 matches across the three formats, including 100 ODIs, and was felicitated by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board in July 2025.

India has already started their preparation under the supervision of captain Suryakumar Yadav and head coach Gautam Gambhir, with all of their experienced players going through intense practice sessions in the batting, bowling, and fielding departments.

Jasprit Bumrah, who last played a T20I game for India, came during the T20 World Cup 2024 final, and has returned to the format, while Hardik Pandya is expected to play a crucial role for the side, retaining their title, having won the previous ODI edition in 2023 against Sri Lanka in the final.
