In Match 18 of the 2025 Major League Cricket (MLC) season, the Seattle Orcas finally earned their first win of the campaign, defeating MI New York by 3 wickets in a high-scoring thriller at Grand Prairie Stadium, Texas. After choosing to bowl, Seattle was put under severe pressure by a dominant MI batting show. Nicholas Pooran dazzled with a blazing 108 from 60 balls, Tajinder Singh blasted 95 from just 35, and MI New York posted 237/4 in the 20 overs. Kyle Mayers and Gerald Coetzee both grabbed a couple of digs despite the runs.
Seattle’s chase was a statement. Shimron Hetmyer starred with a match-winning 97 off 40 balls. Kyle Mayers chipped in with 37 (20), and Sikandar Raza played a game-changing cameo—30 off just 9 balls. Despite some tense moments at the end, the Orcas crossed the line at 238/7, winning with just three balls to spare. Trent Boult took 3/31, but MI couldn’t defend the huge total.
After this result, the Seattle Orcas climbed off the bottom of the table, now sitting fifth with 2 points, just above the Los Angeles Knight Riders on NRR.
