The Pakistan wicket-keeper batter, Mohammad Rizwan, could potentially face a lifetime ban from his cricketing career. He was recently summoned by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), which claims that he and Imam-ul-Haq were involved in illegal activities.

Both the star players were sent back home by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) mid-series during the three-match Test series against England, which they went on to lose by a margin of 3-0. Rizwan’s batting performance was poor throughout the series.

The PCB is due to decide on the disciplinary action once the forensic report of the NCCIA comes out. It depends on whether Rizwan helps in the search of the agency. The media reports have claimed that Rizwan wanted to address the controversy about the NCCIA inquiry and the details of the actions.

Some of these media reports have confirmed the internal inquiry. It has been revealed that the board took some of their players’ devices into their custody, including their mobile phones. Once the news broke, it caught fire and became a massive discussion.

But the question was why Rizwan wasn’t allowed to speak regarding the story before the public? The report claimed that Rizwan’s intention was only to explain the sequence of the competition and his personal stance on the entire discussion.

Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq were sent home during the England Test series and questioned by NCCIA

Rizwan and Imam were among the seven players to be sent back home from the United Kingdom mid-series after the second Test against England at Lord’s, after their massive defeat. They were joined by Salman Agha, who was also sent back home, despite leading them in the opening game in Babar Azam's absence due to injury.

Imam and Rizwan, especially, had to face several questions and answers, which lasted around a couple of hours. It wasn’t disclosed why the players were called off from the middle of the trip in the UK.

Imam didn’t bat in either innings during the second Test of the series for Pakistan due to a quad injury. Rizwan was accused of being involved in betting, as he wasn’t even allowed to participate in the domestic event in the country.
