Kolkata Knight Riders, during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 encounter against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Eden Gardens, utilized the slower short ball effectively to dismiss the batters consistently, capitalizing on the stiff bounce. However, the visitors were phenomenal towards the end, holding their nerve.

When Mukul Choudhary came into the crease, Kolkata had nearly sealed the game, especially after Sunil Narine’s excellent over, where he conceded only two runs and sent back Mohammad Shami, who could crack a few big sixes. But the home side had a few blunders towards the end in setting the field placement.

Mukul Choudhary’s crazy finish carries LSG home on last ball

On the penultimate over of the chase, Mukul pulled the short ball against Cameron Green over the deep backward square leg for a massive six before his top edge went over the short third man for another boundary. He, denying the six on the last delivery, rocked back and thumped the last ball at deep mid-wicket for a six.

It was the situation when Ajinkya Rahane, the KKR captain, didn’t put the fielders close to Avesh Khan, who gave the strike back to Mukul on the very first ball. The equation came down to 13 runs being needed off five balls.

The Rajasthan-born batter got outside the off stump a little bit and pulled the ball flat over deep backward square-leg. Vaibhav Arora, who was given the onus on the last over, executed the third and fourth deliveries of the over before missing his mark.

Mukul went across and lofted the pitched-up ball with massive power as it flew over the sweeper cover for a massive six. He missed playing the pull shot against the slower bouncer but completed the single as wicket-keeper, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, missed the direct hit. Lucknow completed the final over victory.
