Watch: “No clarity…”- Former Pakistan player slams Rilee Rossouw’s comment on IPL and PSL comparison
The former Pakistan opener, Ahmed Shehzad, has slammed Rilee Rossouw and the media for their comments in making comparisons between the PSL and the IPL.

Since Rilee Rossouw has made a massive moment of the Indian Premier League (IPL) being a massive movie and the Pakistan Super League (PSL) being the real cricket, there has been a huge debate about the quality and performance of the two tournaments. However, statistically, the IPL outperforms the PSL in terms of its financial structure.
The IPL 2026 started a few weeks ago with the Riyan Parag-led Rajasthan Royals sitting at the top of the points table with four victories in five clashes, as they recently faced a defeat against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Meanwhile, in the PSL 2026, the Peshawar Zalmi are at the top with five victories in six encounters.

The former Pakistan opener, Ahmed Shehzad, has criticised the journalists and the media for asking the foreign players about the comparison between PSL and IPL. He pointed out the question that was asked to Kusal Mendis, who is currently featuring in the PSL.
“Kusal Mendis is playing, performing in PSL, and he is being asked questions like 'Sir, last time you left and went to IPL, what do you think about that?' Look at what kind of questions they are asking. Look at Rilee Rossouw — there is no clarity about his performances (in PSL), but he has made statements.” Shehzad expressed in his YouTube video.

“And when he was asked about IPL — what do you think about IPL — so while playing PSL, you obviously cannot praise IPL. So, in that, he said, 'Oh, that is a Bollywood movie. The cricket is happening here in PSL.” He revealed.
The veteran also shed light on the comments. Rossouw addressed that IPL had given him the feel of a movie more than the actual cricket. Mendis. On the other hand, didn’t reply when he was asked to reveal the reason why he left PSL to join IPL last year.

“Last year, you withdrew from the Pakistan Super League to play for the Gujarat Titans midway through the tournament. And you showed some security concerns. And now Pakistan Super League (is) giving you respect again, and they (Gujarat Titans) did not pick you again. So, do you have any regret about withdrawing from the Pakistan Super League the previous year?” Mendis was asked.
“The IPL obviously has the whole Bollywood behind it, so it's a lot more of a movie than actual cricket. So both of them have their pros and cons.” Rossouw commented.
