"No woman should..."- MPCA reacts to Australian players molested in Indore during Women's World Cup 2025
The Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) has reacted to the Australian players getting molested in Indore while going to a cafe during the Women's World Cup 2025 before their clash against South Africa.

Two Australian players were inappropriately touched by a biker in Indore where they were due to play South Africa a few hours later in their final league clash of the Women’s World Cup 2025. The incident met while those players were walking to a café, the morning after their victory against England at the Holkar Stadium.
The Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) expressed their disappointment in a statement. They noted that the local police and administration provided security for the official team, including their visitors to venues like the Mahakal Temple. It happened when the two players were walking towards the café from their hotel in the Khajrana Road area.
“No woman should ever have to endure such trauma, and our thoughts and support are with those impacted by this distressing incident. This unfortunate event has deeply affected everyone from MPCA, who cherishes the values of respect, safety, and dignity of women. It is truly inspiring to see the players rise above this painful experience and continue to compete with courage and determination.” The MPCA revealed in a statement.

The additional district commissioner of police of the Indore Crime Branch, Rajesh Dandotiya, noted that they had made an arrest. Australia have qualified for the semifinal of the event and are likely to meet India next week.
“The security in-charge manager of the Australian team registered a complaint about inappropriate behaviour against two players. We carried out an intensive strategic operation and arrested the culprit, Aqeel. He belongs to Khajrana but now lives in Azad Nagar. He has an old criminal record. The Indore Police Commissionerate held a meeting with the stakeholders, BCCI and MPCA, after which security protocols were put in place.” Rajesh addressed.
Australia were excellent in their last group-stage clash against the Proteas, who got bundled out for 97 runs in 24 overs after their leg spinner, Alana King, picked seven wickets in the first innings. At 49/2, they were comfortable in completing the chase by a huge margin.
