Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 11 runs to win the 3-match ODI series, 2-1, on March 15 at the Shere Bangla Stadium, Dhaka. Soon after the match was over, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) filed an official complaint against Bangladesh for an incident that happened in the last over.

Bangladesh's Tanzid Hasan Tamim scored an outstanding century in the match, helping the team win the series. He was given the Player of the Match award for a good performance in the top order. Despite Salman Agha's century, Pakistan lost the game eventually.

Why Pakistan national cricket team questioned the late DRS

In the 19th over, Pakistan needed 14 runs to win the match. Shaheen Afridi was on strike and tried to hit the ball. However, he failed miserably. The first four deliveries got only two runs, and Pakistan had lost the match by then. In the fifth delivery, Rishad Hossain flighted the ball onto the leg stump that spun down the leg side, away from Shaheen Afridi. Hence, the on-field umpire ruled it wide since the ball was going down the leg side.

Bangladesh went for a review, and to everyone's surprise, the ball had touched Afridi's toe end of the bat, and the wide call was revoked. Now, Pakistan needed 12 runs in just one delivery. Afridi failed to hit in the last ball and went on to get stumped out. He was frustrated, and it was quite evident from his actions.

After the match, PCB filed a complaint to match referee Neeyamur Rashid over the on-field umpire Kumar Dharmasena's wide decision. Pakistan claimed that the opponents took the DRS after watching the replay on the big screen. As per the DRS protocol, teams are expected to decide on a review before any replay is displayed to avoid gaining additional information from video footage.

Moreover, PCB also claimed that Bangladesh took the review after the designated 15 seconds. Meanwhile, the timer didn't appear on the big screen or broadcast, so there is no confirmation on whether they took the DRS after the 15 seconds.

When Pakistan national cricket team backed Bangladesh national cricket team in ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 row

There has been a turn of tables in the Bangladesh vs Pakistan relationship after the end of the last match. However, ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026, Pakistan supported Bangladesh as they were boycotted from the marquee event over a venue change. Bangladesh demanded that their venues be changed and shifted from India to Sri Lanka on short notice. After the ICC rejected the request, they failed to reply within a day, and hence, they were replaced by Scotland in the tournament.

Pakistan extended their full support to Bangladesh and were also on the verge of boycotting the league stage match against India. However, ICC intervened and spoke to both Pakistan and Bangladesh. Later, Pakistan agreed to play against India in the World Cup.

Fans react to this decision by Pakistan team in tense 3rd ODI moment

The fans reacted to the incident quite hilariously since this was a huge, dramatic scene. Pakistan played in the T20 World Cup and qualified for the Super 8 but failed to make it to the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Bangladesh lost revenue due to not participating in the World Cup.
