Pakistan set to announce T20 World Cup 2026 squad - Know when and where

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will make an official announcement about Pakistan's ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 team at 11:30 am on Tuesday during a press conference that Salman Ali Agha, Mike Hesson, and Aqib Javed will attend.

The announcement comes at a time when Pakistan cricket is facing key selection dilemmas, especially in the fast-bowling department. The selection committee must choose between three players Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah and Mohammad Wasim Jr because all three players compete for fast-bowling positions before the international tournament.

The PCB has sent the ICC a preliminary player list which teams can update until January 31. The selectors can use this option to choose their final squad within a limited time period which depends on players' current performance and health status and team requirements.

Key selection calls and off-field uncertainty shape Pakistan’s T20 World Cup build-up

Salman Ali Agha is predicted to captain the team while Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman will provide essential batting support for the team. The team considers Saim Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan as important players who can perform well in the opening and top batting positions. Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Nawaz will handle essential responsibilities in the all-rounders department while Abrar Ahmed functions as a main bowling choice.

Pakistan's tournament participation remains uncertain since PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi declared that the final decision belongs to the Pakistan government. His comments followed the ICC’s decision to remove Bangladesh from the competition over venue-related issues. a move which the PCB has described as unfair.

Pakistan will begin their T20 World Cup match against the Netherlands on February 7 in Colombo despite current off-field disturbances and they have an important match against India which will take place on February 15. The squad announcement will determine Pakistan's World Cup path since it will decide major selection matters and external elements.
