Watch: "Doesn't care" — Pat Cummins' funny dig at England's Bazball approach

On the eve of their two-match Test series against Bangladesh in Darwin, Australia’s captain, Pat Cummins, has made a funny dig at the Bazball approach, which seemed to have finished with the retirement of their former captain, Ben Stokes, and Brendon McCullum getting sacked from the red-ball coaching.

The ‘Bazball’ era of aggressive Test cricket ended in July 2026 after the 2-1 home series defeat against New Zealand at Trent Bridge. They will start the upcoming three-match Test series against Pakistan from August 19 under Joe Root’s leadership and the interim coach, Marcus Trescothick.

Cummins and his team often faced questions about the ultra-aggressive approach. His teammates, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, and others, have joked about it many times, asking whether it would be sustainable against the top-tier pace attack, as Cummins also praised the exciting style.

On the eve of their Darwin Test match against Bangladesh, Cummins was asked about the current situation of England's Bazball. The reporter said, “Pat, Bazball is apparently dead and buried now. Got any insights into how you were able to kill it off and what the future of England will look like now?”

To answer the question, Cummins had a wry smile on his face, and he went, “Uh, no!! Don’t really care,” as the entire press conference broke into massive laughter. The video has gone viral on social media platforms.  

Australia kick off their two-match Test series against Bangladesh in Darwin

Bangladesh played the three-day warm-up clash against CA XI at the Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin, in which the tourists lost the contest by an innings and 38 runs. After the opening Test at the same venue, the focus will shift to the second Test match from August 22 at the Great Barrier Reef Area in Mackay.

Australia have left out Scott Boland from the playing XI for the opening Test and opted for the three pacers, who are Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and the captain himself, along with Nathan Lyon as the lone spinner. They will also have two more bowling options in Beau Webster and Cameron Green.
