The Pakistan U-19 team mentor, Sarfaraz Ahmed, who is also the former captain of the national side, accused the Indian side of misconduct during the Asia Cup final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief, Mohsin Naqvi, that he would raise the matter with the ICC over what he called the ‘provocative behavior’ by Indian players.

Pakistan produced a very dominant performance with both bat and ball in hand during the final of the competition against India at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai. They posted 347 runs in the first innings of their allotted 50 overs before bowling out the Blue Brigade for 156 in 26.2 overs to seal the thumping 191-run victory.

“India’s behaviour during the game was not appropriate, and their conduct was against the spirit of cricket. Despite that, we celebrated our victory with sportsmanship. Cricket should always be played in the right spirit; what India did reflects their own actions.” Sarfaraz expressed after the end of the final which ended the drought of Pakistan’s 13 year in winning the trophy.

Mohsin Naqvi knocks ICC on India’s rude behavior against Pakistan

At the reception of the media for the Under-19 team hosted by the Pakistan Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, Navi called out the conduct of the Indian players and reckoned that the board would formally approach the International Cricket Council (ICC), requesting the council to keep the politics separate from the game.

“Indian players kept provoking Pakistani players during the Under-19 Asia Cup final. Pakistan will formally inform the ICC about the incident. Politics and sports should always be kept separate.” Naqvi highlighted in the press conference.

This wasn’t the first time that the player conduct during an India-Pakistan clash made the headlines. India’s Suryakumar Yadav was fined for bringing the game intro disrepute following his comments during the group-stage clash, while the premier pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, was warned for breaching the Code of Conduct in the final. Haris Rauf of Pakistan has also been fined twice and handed a two-match ban for provocative celebrations.
