PCB hands maximum penalty to Fakhar Zaman for ball-tampering during LHQ vs KRK PSL 2026 clash
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has handed a maximum penalty to the left-handed opening batter, Fakhar Zaman, for the ball tampering during the clash against Karachi Kings in the PSL 2026.

The left-handed opening batter of the Pakistan side, Fakhar Zaman, has been handed the maximum penalty by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) post the ball tempering incident during the contest between the Lahore Qalandars and the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League 2026.
Fakhar Zaman was caught in the camera while whipping the ball in an attempt to change the structure of the ball heading into the last over of the innings as they were defending a low score against the opponents. Haris Rauf was prepared to bowl the final over as they took more time to set the field placement.
What led to Fakhar Zaman’s ball-tampering charge in PSL 2026
The Kings needed 14 runs heading into the last over as the two batters, Khusdil Shah and Azam Khan, were trying their best to complete the chase, which looked incredibly tough then. The umpire penalised the side for the slow over rate, with one extra fielder being stationed inside the ring.
Meanwhile, despite the wicket of Shah by Haris Rauf, the new batter, Abbas Afridi, swung his willow and smashed the first legal ball for a boundary and nailed the very next ball for a huge six to complete the chase by four wickets.
Details of PCB’s strict punishment against Pakistan batter
Zaman has been handed a two-match ban after being found guilty of altering the condition of the ball during their four-wicket defeat to Karachi on March 29. The sanction was announced after a hearing in which the match referee, Roshan Mahanama, ruled that the batter had tampered with the ball.

That stance has breached Article 41.3 of the PSL code of conduct, as the hearing had to take place because Fakhar had contested the ball-tampering charge. A player is suspended for a minimum of one match or a maximum of two games for the first time for a level-III offence under the PSL code of conduct for the players and the support staff.
“Match Referee Roshan Mahanama conducted the disciplinary hearing and determined, after reviewing all evidence and providing an opportunity for a personal hearing to Fakhar. Lahore Qalandars Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, Team Director Sameen Rana, and Team Manager Farooq Anwar were also present during the hearing.” The PCB statement expressed.
Fakhar will be unavailable for their next games against the Multan Sultans on April 03 and the Islamabad United on April 09.
