PCB stuns BCCI with Saudi Arabia expansion plan amid PSL 2026: Know full details
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has shocked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) with a likely expansion in Saudi Arabia amidst the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026.

A massive development has come from the Middle East, which has now caught everyone’s attention both in India and Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), during the ongoing season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026, has revealed its plan of looking beyond its country and planning something huge in hosting a game in Saudi Arabia, where the interest in the game has grown rapidly.
The PCB has banned the fans’ presence in the stadiums of Karachi and Lahore during the 20-over franchise tournament. That has decreased the excitement of the games a little bit. Moreover, the board has also made interesting and shocking calls to make headlines by picking five uncapped players for their next tour in Bangladesh, including a few veterans like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.
PCB explores Saudi Arabia for future league expansion
The Pakistan Cricket Board has reportedly made the final decision to take the competition to Saudi Arabia amidst the current event. After their testing success in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the fans of the Middle East can also watch the games in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The reports by the journalist, Saleem Khaliq, have claimed that the Pakistan board is all set to build a new cricket stadium in Jeddah. This venue will also host the PSL games in the future, which will attract more fans from that region.

The PCB has approved an expression of interest (EOI) to work with the Saudi Arabia Cricket Federation (SACF) to develop a stadium in Jeddah. This decision was made during the board meeting in Lahore, where they discussed how they could expand the game outside Pakistan.
The PCB chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, in December 2024, visited Saudi Arabia and met Prince Saud bin Mishala Al-Saud. That was the time when they showed interest in getting new ground and growing the game in that country. Things have become more organized after SACF was established in 2020.
Move could impact BCCI and global T20 leagues landscape
The focus in Saudi Arabia has grown in running the local competitions and preparing teams for the bigger events in the future. Saudi Arabia also became a member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2003 and got the associate nation’s tag in 2016.
They made the headlines when they hosted the auction of the IPL 2024 in Jeddah, which showed how serious they are in entering the global events and business. The PCB has used this as a great chance to play the big card.
The PSL 2026 is running in full flow, and 32 matches have already been played across the two venues in Pakistan.
What this means for PSL’s growth beyond Pakistan
This will also be a huge boost for the PSL, who will get an extra venue country in the league apart from Pakistan and the UAE, which used to host the games in the past around Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. On the other hand, the Saudi Arabia's expasion will increase PCB's height in the global history.
The revenue will be more with attraction on the overseas and local Pakistan players, who have been performing well in the shortest format. Saudi Arabia has done well in recent time in their growth of the game.
