After taking a break during the second of the five-match Test series between England and India, the premier pacer of the touring side, Jasprit Bumrah, has marked his return into the playing eleven for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Lord’s in the third fixture. And he contributed with his first five-wicket haul at this venue in the third trip after 2018 and 2021.

Bumrah earned his 13th five-wicket haul in the away Tests, which helped him to overtake the former Indian captain, Kapil Dev. It was also the Ahmedabad-born pacer’s 11th five-wicket haul in SENA countries. His bowling performance helped me to get the home side bundled out for 387 in the first innings, which, at one point, seemed to be ending beyond 450.

“You never know how many matches you'll get to play here. As a child, you've seen a lot of Test cricket played here. So now being on the honours board feels good.Bumrah, who picked up Harry Brook as his first wicket of the contest on the opening evening, stated. On the second day, with a nip backer, he sent Ben Stokes back to the pavilion.

Centurion Joe Root was the next prey of the veteran pacer. The right-handed batter looked to drive the full-length ball on the up, but he ended up dragging it onto the stumps. Chris Woakes, on his very first delivery, got an outside edge into the hands of the wicket-keeper. Jofra Archer was the fifth wicket, getting squared up against Bumrah’s beautiful outswinging delivery.

The 31-year-old also revealed that he didn’t celebrate the moment because of bowling so many overs in the heat. Bumrah extended by saying that the moment would be special because he could tell his son, Angad, when he would grow up in the future.
