The day after India’s heartbreaking defeat by 22 runs against England during the third Test of the five-match series at Lord’s, the Indian teams, both men and women, met the United Kingdom's King Charles III at Clarence House in London on July 15. The kings interacted with the players in the morning.
Captain Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, and others were present as King Charles mentioned to the side about the fact that he watched the highlights of the third Test. Mohammed Siraj was the last wicket to fall in the clash as the right-handed batter couldn’t survive Shoaib Bashir as the ball bounced off the deck to hit the stumps.

‘It was amazing to meet King Charles III, and he was very kind and generous to call us. We had some really good conversations. King Charles III told us that the way our last batsman got out in the previous test match was quite unfortunate, the ball rolling on the stumps. We told him that it was an unfortunate match for us and could have gone either way. Hopefully, we will have better luck in the next game.’ Gill expressed regarding the meeting.

The Blue Brigade came to the third Test after the series was levelled at 1-1, with the visitors making a roaring comeback in the second game at Edgbaston. But the Lord’s Test didn’t go their way. There were many key moments in which the Indian team could have taken advantage, but they let the game drift away from their hands.

It started with KL Rahul dropping Jamie Smith when he was on five, before the batter went on to add 48 more runs to the previous tally. Later, while batting, he and Rishabh Pant got engaged in a mixture that saw the latter getting run out to lose control of the clash. They also had a comfortable chance of taking a lead, which they couldn’t.
With the series being 2-1 down for the tourists, the fourth game at Old Trafford in Manchester becomes a do-or-die for them, which begins on July 23, as the players enjoy a nine-day break.
