Prithvi Shaw

Prithvi Shaw is back in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He will be featured for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL 2026 season. It was a tense day for the batter as he went unsold twice in the auction, which was today in Abu Dhabi.

Later, before the conclusion of the event, DC roped in the top-order batter, who played for them before, at a base price of INR 75 Lakh. After remaining unsold in the mega auction last year, Shaw missed the IPL 2025 season. In the recent past, before the auction, he took some major steps to reinforce his career, which went down by miles because of lack of consistency and lack of discipline.

To revive the career, the batter joined the Maharashtra cricket team instead of Mumbai ahead of the ongoing domestic season. For Maharashtra, he had been doing well. After a considerable period, Shaw looked more focused than before. His recent stats for Maharashtra are enough to reflect his current form. The 26-year-old scored 183 runs in seven matches at a strike rate above 160 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025–26 (SMAT 2025).

Prithvi Shaw again Delhi Capitals for IPL 2026 season

Shaw has represented only Delhi Capitals in the IPL. Across 79 matches, he has scored 1,892 runs at an average of 23.94 and a strike rate of 147.46. Due to insufficient runs, the franchise released him before the IPL 2025 mega auction, where he did not get a single bid from any franchise.

As he was unsold earlier today, another IPL season without Prithvi Shaw was looking possible. But the Delhi-based franchise again showed their trust in the talented batter.
