Hardik Pandya is all fine to return to action for the Mumbai Indians
Ahead of the match, MI fans have received some good news in the form of their captain Hardik Pandya. Pandya missed the previous game because of illness, but now, he is all fine to return to action against the 5-time champions. MI's bowling coach Paras Mhambrey confirmed that the all-rounder will return to lead the side today while also stating that he was never injured and was sick.
"Hardik Pandya is available. He had a couple of net sessions. He is fine. He was not injured, but was unwell. That’s the reason he was unavailable last game," the coach said in the pre-match press conference.
"I think that's something that you will have to take. Injuries are something that you can't control, but I think we got the team we got enough guys out there to make the mix and match and looking at the surface combinations, but yeah, I think we got enough guys to look around kind of," he added further.
The bowling coach hinted about a crucial change in the playing combination as Hardik Pandya will make himself back into the line-up. In the previous match, because of Pandya's unavailability, who is a pace bowling all-rounder, the team management brought in Corbin Bosch for Trent Boult.
"Yeah I think it's just a combination, obviously Hardik gives you that option of a bat and ball all-rounder right? So since he wasn't available we needed a kind of replacement who could fill in that role for us so it's purely a tactical decision that we went with him," Mhambrey told the media ahead of the RR vs MI IPL 2026 clash.
