The captain of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), under whom the franchise won their maiden title of the Indian Premier League (IPL) during the 2025 season, Rajat Patidar, found himself in an exclusive chat with Cricbuzz and picked up his favorite and greatest batter, captain, wicket-keeper, fielder, and other categories.

Patidar now aims to continue the same dominance with the bat and leadership to win successive trophies in the league. They have started on the right note with a thrilling victory over the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the home venue- M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Rajat Patidar picks greatest IPL batter, fielder, bowler, and others

Rajat Patidar went with Virat Kohli as the greatest batter of the league. The former RCB captain is the leading run-getter of the tournament with 8730 runs in 260 innings at an average of 39.86 and a strike rate of 133.14, with the help of 64 half-centuries and eight centuries at the best score of unbeaten 113 runs.

The Madhya Pradesh-born decided to go with Rohit Sharma as the greatest captain of the league. The former Mumbai Indians (MI) captain, who won five titles for the franchise, has the second most wins as the leader with 87 victories in 158 games at an overall rate of 56.32%.

Patidar had no hesitation in picking MS Dhoni as the best wicket-keeper of the league, besides putting his former captain of the league, Faf du Plessis’ name as the best fielder. Another former South Africa pacer, Dale Steyn, is the best fast bowler of the league, while Kohli has the greatest cover drive.

RCB captain chooses best teammate and moment of IPL

As the finisher, many thought that the RCB captain would perhaps go with Dhoni, with the Ranchi-born showing his skills of nailing massive sixes and boundaries around the park, holding his calmness under pressure. But Patidar went with Ab de Villiers in that aspect.

Jasprit Bumrah is the best death bowler in his eyes, and there has been no argument in that aspect. Kohli remains Patidar’s best teammate of the IPL, while he felt that Phil Salt and Romario Shepherd have the best music taste.

As the best moment of his career, Patidar went with them, winning the IPL 2025 when they blew away the Punjab Kings in the last final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
