The sixth game of the IPL 2026, the Kolkata Knight Riders vs SunRisers Hyderabad (KKR vs SRH) match has been scheduled at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. It will be their second match of the season, while Eden Gardens is set to host its first game of the IPL 2026. 

The three-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders started the new season with a defeat against Mumbai Indians (MI). The five-time winners Mumbai Indians finally ended their 13-year streak of losing the season opener after beating KKR by six wickets with five balls remaining. While KKR scored 220/4 in 20 overs, MI openers had a 148-run partnership to chase their record-breaking target in 19.1 overs after losing four wickets. 

On the other hand, SunRisers Hyderabad also started the new season with a comfortable defeat, as the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) beat the IPL 2016 winners by six wickets with 26 balls remaining. While SRH scored 201/9 in 20 overs, RCB chased down the target in just 15.4 overs after losing four wickets.

Home team Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss, as their captain Ajinkya Rahane chose to field first, while Eden Gardens is hosting its first game of the IPL season. Meanwhile, SRH stand-in captain Ishan Kishan also clarified that he would choose to bowl first if he won the toss.

For this match, KKR haven't made any changes in the squad, while SRH are set to start with one change as Shivang Kumar has been added to the playing XI.
