It wasn’t a smooth end to the fourth T20I of the five-match series between India and West Indies at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad as the home captain, Shreyas Iyer, was forced to declare the innings in a rare incident after his number 10, Arshdeep Singh, was seen in severe pain.
The left-arm pacer, Arshdeep, looked to be in serious trouble as the medical team of the hosts rushed to the ground twice. The management wasn’t happy with the situation and were tense, keeping in mind the upcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand.
Why Shreyas Iyer declared the innings after Arshdeep Singh was injured
On the third delivery of the final over of the chase, it was a good pacy short delivery from Shamar Joseph as it thudded into the left bicep of Arshdeep as he backed away to pull this outside the leg stump. The physio was out there as Shai Hope and Paul were in all smiles.
On the very next delivery of the innings, Arshdeep was well outside the leg-stump as he pulled and missed. The ball went into the right side of the keeper for five wides. That was followed by the same plan on the third ball.

Arshdeep looked in serious pain and was on his haunches. Nitin Menon, the umpire, was having a chat. The batter couldn’t walk off the field, which saw Iyer call off the innings as the West Indies won the clash by 24 runs.
How India lost the 4th T20I against West Indies
The West Indies captain, Shai Hope, celebrated his second T20I century of the series and remained unbeaten on 102 runs off 50 balls at a strike rate of 204 with four boundaries and nine sixes. The Indian side was restricted to 223/9 in their 20 overs. Their opener, Sanju Samson, blasted a 23-ball 56-run knock but couldn’t get the victory. Keemon Paul returned with figures of 5/41 in four overs. That was his second T20I fifer.
