Travis Head breaks silence on Kohli handshake snub

The left-handed batter of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has broken the silence on the no-handshake drama with Virat Kohli during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 contest with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Kohli and Head were engaged in a heated moment during the game as, after the end of the encounter, the former was seen to be ignoring Head during the customary post-match handshake.

As the teams lined up for the post-match handshake, Virat Kohli shook hands with the SRH captain, Pat Cummins, and their opener, Abhishek Sharma, but ignored Head, who had his arm outstretched to greet Kohli, before moving on to the next player on the line.

The Sunrisers posted 255 runs for the loss of four wickets; Bengaluru needed at least 166 to secure the top-two finish in the league and at least 178 runs to top the points table. They set their aim on that and finished on 200 for 4.

Kohli, while opening the innings, made 15 runs off 11 balls before falling to Sakib Hussain in the last over of the powerplay. SRH finished third and played the Eliminator in New Chandigarh.

What Head said: 'No surprises with how the competition went,' says Aussie

During a recent interaction on Code Sports, Travis Head revealed that he wasn’t surprised at it given how the competition had been going on for a while.

“I don’t think there’s anything to patch over. That’s just what it is. No surprises with how the competition went or what went on. So, as expected. I think Jessica and I have a great perspective on things. That’s the world we live in.” Head expressed on Code Sports.

“I think she’s amazing in how she handles that kind of stuff. It was more the family stuff that was built around it, flowing on to other family members who don’t particularly see that sort of stuff.” He addressed.

The Australian veteran admitted the online abuse after that, which had been difficult to deal with, besides praising his wife for the way she dealt with all of it.

“Everyone forgets about it in a few days. She handled it extremely well. It’s probably about handling it with others and what other people’s perspective of what things are like.” Head added.
